Hi! I am so excited you are taking the time to find out who I am and all about my God driven passion to help children. This journey with God began around 2004 with a deep desire to volunteer and visit women’s shelters. I just wanted to do whatever I could to help them. God quickly showed me that His hand was orchestrating this passion within me. As I was gratefully welcomed into local shelters; It took only a few visitations for me to realized the overwhelming needs these shelters had in trying to help the women and children in their care. After looking into the eyes of these children, I knew God had something He needed me to do.
In February of 2005, at a school talent show at Springdale Elementary, I heard a very talented group of children. One of them, Adam Turner, had been battling a brain tumor. We had prayed for Adam each night for months but I had never met him. After the show I met Adam and invited him to sing at a benefit concert with me. In April of 2005 he joined us for that concert and once again took the heart of the audience! However, in May of 2005, Adam was diagnosed with another brain tumor and this time it was inoperable.
I am a firm believer that God plants people into our lives for a reason. We kept in touch with Adam and his family and each time I saw him he was always smiling that big grin of his with such a gleam in his eyes.
Adam touched many hearts and in his 6 short years of life, he impacted many lives. He taught us how to appreciate life, and how to be a true fighter. On September 10, 2005, Adam lost his battle to cancer but won the victory as he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus.
I guess I will never understand why children have to be so sick or why some children have to deal with abuse and neglect. I do know however, that I want to be in the rink for them and create a foundation that will reach out to organizations that help burdened and sick children.
When Adam passed and we helped with his funeral arrangements, we used a photo that my husband Tony had taken at the April concert. With a huge smile and eyes full of life I saw the face that every child should experience…it was then that I prayed about asking his family if we could dedicate this foundation in memory of Adam.
Would you please join us and help make a difference in a child’s life?
